Menopause MOT

We encourage all women to have a Specialist Physiotherapy check (sometimes called 'Menopause MOT') as soon as they have any concerns about their pelvic or musculoskeletal health.

Common complaints at this time can be symptoms of prolapse, urine or bowel incontinence, pelvic pain, dyspareunia (painful sex), musculoskeletal pain and osteoporosis.

A specialist menopause physiotherapist check will include:

  • Comprehensive medical history check to determine general and hormonal health. This will cover urinary and bowel function, pelvic health.

  • Internal examination to assess internal pelvic health and pelvic floor function.

  • Comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment of any pain or dysfunction.

  • Comprehensive review of exercise levels and recommendations made based on hormonal health, bone density and cardiac health.

You can read more about menopause and physiotherapy management in our blog post.
