About Pilates

Pilates is a gentle mind-body conditioning exercise program that helps improve your posture, strength, control and balance.

It works by focusing on the deep postural muscles of the spine and abdomen (core stability), and can help to achieve a longer leaner posture, which not only looks good, but improves your physical health and helps prevent injury reoccurrence.

At Sussex Physiotherapy we use modified Pilates, and adapt traditional Pilates exercises (that are maybe too advanced for many of us) to give exercises that are at the right level for you, whatever your age, fitness level or problem.

We create an individual Pilates Program that is tailored to your needs, often incorporating Pilates with Physiotherapy treatment. We currently offer Pilates on a 1:1 and 1:2 basis. Small classes are soon to be arranged.

Pilates and good posture is suitable for everybody, and especially if you have any of the below conditions:

  - Low Back Pain - Sports Injuries
  - Neck/ Upper Back Pain - Post orthopaedic Surgery
  - Poor Posture - Stress/ anxiety
  - Abdominal (Core) Weakness eg. Pre/post Natal

Claire Yuill at Sussex Physiotherapy has completed extensive Pilates training, and is a member of The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI)
